Why it exists

“School facility fees may be levied "for the purpose of funding the construction or reconstruction of school facilities". Fees may not be used for regular maintenance, routine repair, inspection or removal of asbestos containing materials, or purposes of deferred maintenance, as defined. Level 1 school fees shall be used by the District to construct school facilities on new and existing campuses.”

“Specific uses may include but not limited to: the design of new construction projects, acquisition of land, construction of new permanent buildings, placement of modular classrooms on a short term or long term basis, necessary permit and plan checking fees, testing and inspection costs, necessary furnishing and equipment, and related costs of construction projects. In addition, fees may be used for lease of interim facilities pending availability of newly constructed facilities. Fees may be used for legal and administrative cost of establishing and administering the fee program and for planning new schools to serve growth areas.”
